How Personality Affects Jewelry Choice

Each of us is unique in our personalities and our appearance. Even so, common elements in our personality affect our choice of jewelry and accessories. Of course, coloring and body types also affect our choices. These are some common personality types and the jewelry choice they have in common.

Extrovert

The extrovert loves attention so her jewelry exemplifies this trait. She will choose showy bracelets and may even wear more than one at a time. Her rings will have large or multiple stones. She may even wear a ring on each of her fingers. She will probably even wear a toe ring to accent strappy sandals. Her ear rings will be larger than average and probably be the latest new thing like the chandelier earrings. Her necklaces will be a little ostentatious without being gaudy. All of her jewelry choices will form the picture of someone who is not afraid to be noticed. She loves attention and is not afraid to flaunt her sense of style. She is a jeweler's dream; she buys lots of pretty things and isn't worried about price. She knows she is special and deserves everything bought for her or that she buys.

The Dreamer

The dreamer likes jewelry that suits her not completely of this earth style. She enjoys quirky jewelry and isn't opposed to wearing a necklace with a fairy stone or a Celtic bracelet or ring. She enjoys items that reflect her sense of style. Diamonds aren't overly important to her. She probably would choose unusual stones rather than the ubiquitous diamond. She craves being different. She might not tell you but she probably bought one of the Lord of the Rings elf rings to go with her Celtic jewelry. Her necklaces are lacy and understated to enhance her looks and give her the ethereal looks she likes.

The Cat Lover

Cat lovers are very special females. They don't just love cats; they love cats. They probably have a cat pin for every day because they have never seen a cat pin they didn't want. They may even have a cat charm bracelet or a cat cameo ring. Yes, they make cat cameo jewelry. These pieces are very popular. Cat charm bracelets are also what every cat lover needs. To give this personality type a completely finished look, they must have is a cat watch.

The Dog Lover

See the cat lover but insert dog for every cat mention.

The Diva

For this personality type, it's all about the bling bling. The jewelry is large and shiny, the shinier the better. Diamonds should be large even if they are fake. Rings sport large stones, especially diamonds. She probably has several piercings in her ears so that she can wear even more diamonds or gold jewelry. Her necklaces are large, gold and very shiny. She is never ostentatious but she likes to be seen. Her larger than life personality is showcased by her extreme jewelry. She doesn't mind being the center of attention; she thrives on the limelight. She isn't above wearing all fakes if she can't afford the real thing; all she wants is attention and notice. With Diva Jewelry she will be the star she was always meant to be.

The Debutant

Being born to money, she only wants the best. She has been given jewelry her whole life, some of it new but most inherited. The inherited jewelry has been handed down from generation to generation. She has a set of perfect pearls that go with everything. All of her jewelry is understated and graceful. Ostentatious is not in her vocabulary. When she gets engaged, her ring will probably be a family heirloom. On her wedding day, her mother and father will present her with a perfect diamond necklace to accessorize her dress. The groom will more than likely give her perfect diamond earrings to complete her wedding ensemble. She always looked perfectly put together and is perfectly comfortable in any situation. All of the rest of us hate her, but she doesn't care. She is a future Junior Leaguer and doesn't care.

The Teenager

Whatever is new and cool is what she wants. She doesn't have a lot of money to spend on jewelry so she generally chooses inexpensive rings and earrings. They are colorful, young and free. If she wears a necklace, it is a cross or one of the T shaped necklaces with beads. She wouldn't be caught in pearls or any other old people fashions. She may have a birthstone ring and probably wears several other rings on her fingers. When she goes to prom, she either borrows a diamond necklace from her mother or buys a very inexpensive fake one. Her days of expensive jewelry will come. Just give her time.

The Earth Mother

This lady loves jewelry made of earth looking materials. She loves unusual stones and is prone to even wear a belt made of large, beautiful stones. She may even wear jewelry in her long hair. She wears chunky bracelets. Her engagement ring is probably not a diamond but a stone that represents something special to her. She knows what looks good on her and fits her earthy lifestyle. Her ears are probably pierced several times with lovely hoops or simple stones. She loves the way she looks and is completely satisfied with the way she presents herself.

The Star

The star is loved by jewelry store owners everywhere. She has money to spend and is not afraid to buy her own engagement ring if her fiancé can't afford what she wants. If she is going on the red carpet, she will borrow jewelry that costs more than most of us make in our lifetimes. Sometimes, if she likes the piece enough, she will buy it. Money is no object. Her diamonds are large and showy. She has an image to uphold and can afford whatever she wants. Fake jewelry is not for her; only the best will do. She has diamond rings, diamond bracelets, and diamond necklaces. She may even have a diamond chain for her beloved dog. She most likely even has diamonds where we can't even see them. Charm and glamour is her life and the right jewelry completes the package.

The Introvert

She is shy and quiet. Her jewelry choices are indicative of her need not to be noticed and not to stick out in a crowd. If she has an engagement ring, she more than likely has a nice solitaire. She will wear a ring on her other hand, probably one given to her by her parents or inherited from her grandmother or a favorite aunt. She likes cameo jewelry because they are classic and remind her of a quieter time when women rarely wanted to be in the spotlight. She wears studs in her ears if they are pierced and if she wears a necklace, it is simple and understated.
